Remuneration: Rs 6 crore
With Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan carrying home a pay packet of Rs 6 crores for her proposed stint as Rajnikanth’s leading lady in Shankar’s Robot, the lady has now become the highest-paid actress of Indian cinema. But when it comes to Hindi films, Ash charges Rs 3 crore. Earlier the actress used to charge between Rs 1-1.5 crore but after bagging a Hollywood film, Aishwarya jacked her rates.
Rumeration fees: Deepika is one lucky girl. She bagged Rs 2 crore for her very first film Om Shanti Om. And now she has increased her price. Well, if the producers are willing to pay, who are we to complain?
Remuneration: Rs 3.5 croreThe sun is shining bright on Kareena these days. Surely the highest paid actress in Bollywood, she normally charges Rs 3.5 crore per film. But post-Jab We Met, the actress has hiked her price. Earlier she used to charge anything between Rs 50 to 75 lakhs.
Remuneration: Rs 2 crore Although Priyanka Chopra has not had a release in a long time, she asks for Rs 2 crore. The actress is banking on her forthcoming ventures Love Story 2050, Drona and Fashion. She had charged only Rs 50 lakh for Krissh, but increased her price after bagging the Rakesh Roshan banner.

Kareena Kapoor looks as radiant and charming as ever. It is the first day of her shoot for her new film Main Aur Mrs Khanna, which is produced by UTV and Sohail Khan. The film also stars Salman Khan. The actress looks chirpy and greets me with a warm smile. “You will ask questions only about my personal life na?” she asks jokingly. Do you want to lose more weight?
Why are you asking me this question? Do I look over-weight? (laughs).
No. But your weight-loss stories are doing the rounds.
I have been reading about it too. You tell me, how do I look? Do I look anorexic?
Not at all…
Then write na. While you are sitting in front of me you will praise me, and then you guys will say, “Arre kitni bimar dikhti hai!” (laughs)
But why did you lose so much weight?
I had to do it for my forthcoming film Tashan. I have signed a contract with Yash Raj Films so I won’t be able to divulge much about the film or my role.

Still, one thing which is clear is that there are fantasy elements in this film, courtesy Rani Mukherjee’s fairy act. Director Kunal Kohli and Saif Ali Khan had given a new lease of life to each other when they came together last in Hum Tum. This time around they also have Amisha Patel for company. Roadside Romeo So what if the only thing we get to see (or rather hear) of Saif in Roadside Romeo is his voice! He still has Kareena for company and as a dog and bitch (in Saif’s own words), it is going to be quite some pairing at work. Though one wonders if actor turned director Jugal Hansraj would indeed be able to come up with an animation film which would be able to match international standards, Yash Raj Films’ backing makes one confident of the project. Arriving this Diwali, the film is being pitched as a festive family entertainer.

Imtiaz Ali’s next Jab Imtiaz Met Saif and also roped in Deepika Padukone, magic to hona hi hai! Yet untitled, this is one of the most exciting projects of the year and already announced as a Christmas release. It is said to be yet another ‘different’ yet entertaining piece of cinema from Imtiaz Ali who has defied stereotype twice in Jab We Met and Socha Na Tha. With Saif also producing the film and looking at pushing the envelope, audiences won’t settle down for anything less than extraordinary. Expect a grand finale to 2008 with the film’s release!
