At last, Sonam Kapoor has a reason to smile. Despite her Saawariya debacle, Aditya Chopra has signed her for SRK’s next Yash Raj venture Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

The King Khan was last paired with another 22-year-old debutante Deepika Padukone in his last film Om Shanti Om. But unlike OSO, the script for Aditya Chopra’s film mandates the massive age difference since it focuses on the love between a 40-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl.

Extensive talent hunts were organised by Yashraj Films to scout for just the right girl with the authentic Punjabi look who will play a 16-year-old in the film. Hundreds of authentic Punjabi kudis participated in the auditions held in Punjab.

In fact, Aditya Chopra himself went through the shortlist, but found no one suitable. He was indeed very finicky about signing the right girl because he was making his comeback to direction after a gap of eight years and wanted to get everything perfect.

After all his talent hunts led to a dead end, Adi spoke to Anil Kapoor, who was more than glad to have Sonam get into the Yashraj camp, that too directed by none other that Adi himself.

The film will be shot extensively in Greece, Australia and Dubai and will release by the end of 2008.

Well, the dead-drop handsome guy, Ranbir Kapoor has been in the news ever since his debut with ‘Saawariya’.

With reports hitting media that the handsome is dating the gorgeous beauty, Deepika Padukone, the actor is surely set to kick off his own ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani’.. And yes, to top it all, this is the next movie that Ranbir has signed…

The actor surely has his feet on the ground and true to the RK style, he is ready to play the waiting game and do the best for his career.

With film offers flooding from all corners, Ranbir has had the courage and determination to reject the offers as he feels he needs to concentrate on the project in hand.

After rejecting offers like Rakeysh Mehra’s Delhi 6 and the much-talked about Eros Entertainment venture Freeze, the actor feels, “I’m reading scripts. But I can’t bring myself to say yes to offers just for the money or the set-up. My character has to appeal to me”.

As of now, the tall lanky lad has signed just 2 films, one being ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon’ under Yashraj Banner opposite Bipasha Basu,Minissha Lamba and Ranbir’s real love.

Deepika Padukone, and the other being Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani with Katrina Kaif.

Interestingly, Katrina was first offered a role in ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon’, but later was dropped. When asked about this, Ranbir with a smile says, “No regrets, as I am doing another film with her”…

Teenage sensation Hansika Motwani who climbed the ladder of success and fame with her very first release ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ would soon be seen paired against Virar Ka Chora, Govinda in the film, ‘Money Hai To Honey Hai’.

Hansika shares that the character she plays in the film is very close to what she actually is in her real life.

Q. What’s the story line of your upcoming film, Money Hai To Honey Hai?
A. I cannot reveal much about the film. All I can tell you is that it’s a comedy flick which I am sure people are going to enjoy. Just wait and watch.

Q. Your character in it…
A. Well, I am playing the character of a television star who wants to be a film actress. The character tells how she works to become a star when she has money.

Q. So what kind of preparations have you done for the film?
A. For this film I have really worked hard on my looks. I look completely different from my first film. Also I have toned down to give this role a very happening look. Hopefully audience will get a pleasant surprise.

Q. How close is the character to your real self?
A. Yes, the character is very close to my real life. Playing me was fun.

Q. How was it working with such a versatile and senior actor like Govinda?
A. Working with Govinda sir was a pleasure for me. I got to work with him at a beginning of my career. I find myself lucky. I learnt a lot from him. Also he helped me out with dancing.

Q. Any interesting incident that you can recall that took place during the shoot?
A. Actually nothing in particular, because during the shoot of the whole film, we enjoyed a lot. We used to have lunch together, and at times we played cards too. The whole film was a treat for me.

Q. Did anyone play any kind of prank on you on the sets?
A. Touchwood, no one has ever played any prank on me yet. As I was the youngest on the set, everyone used to be very sweet and kind to me. Above all, I too was a good girl there.

On Tuesday, Kareena who’s been on a vertiginous high since the release of Jab We Met finally started shooting a new film at Film City at the outskirts of Mumbai. Nervous like a debutante, Kareena said, “Although we’ve done Priyadarshan’s Kyun Ki before, I always get nervous working with Salman. He was my sister’s hero long before we were paired together. And now to be doing a film with him…”

The two were destined to serenade immortality in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. But the film never happened. Kareena was also signed for Salman Khan’s home production My Punjabi Nikaah. That never happened either.

Kareena chuckles in disbelief. “Our new film Main Aur Mrs Khanna is an intensely romantic film. I don’t think Salman has done a pure love story like this before. Neither have I. Sohail is also in the film.”

Interestingly, this is the first time in her distinguished career that Kareena will be working with a debutant director Prem Soni. “He’s very talented. It wouldn’t matter even if he wasn’t. I’m doing it for Salman,” says Kareena emotionally.

After the sucess of the recent blockbuster thriller RACE, let’s just take a peek at the “attepted” thrillers which did not work out so well. The only 2 that I’ve seen w/i these 5 are NAQAAB + the train….which was pretty decent except t I didn’t like the ending. The rest of them did not even hold my attention. The music of cash was impressive, ofcourse bythe talented pair vishal-shekar…the train was crap…waste of time so boring…the high point of the film was the song Wog Ajnabee. Geeta Basre cannot act for her life…and the rest of the films i dont even wanna see…ur opinions..

smith-feels-common2.jpga1_11.jpg
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has declined to co-star with Hollywood wonder boy Will Smith yet again!
Two years ago, Smith offered her a role in his comedy Hitch which Ash could not accept due to time constraints. At that time, a besotted Smith who wanted to work with the beauty queen had said in an interview, “Aishwarya has this powerful energy and doesn’t have to say anything, or do anything, she can just stand there. Anything she’s making, I’ll be there.”

Since then, Aishwarya turned down two more Will Smith projects. “That’s true,” she laughed. “I had to say no to Will for The Seven Pounds and now again for Tonight He Comes (Smith’s super-hero flick re-named John Hancock). I feel awful about it. But I’ve my priorities. Family always comes first.”

Contrary to reports, Aishwarya didn’t decline the film to celebrate Karwa Chauth in Mumbai. “That’s what the Hollywood press wrote… that I preferred to return to Mumbai to ‘starve’ myself for a religious occasion than to meet Will. That’s incorrect. The script reading was just after Diwali when Dadima’s (Teji Bachchan’s) health dipped. So I didn’t make that trip for the reading with Will. Is that wrong? Not to me. I’d any day put family over career.”

Now Ash has said no to Tonight He Comes. “I couldn’t do it because of my schedules. Flying in and out of the country for a role is not what I want to do now,” she said. Are Ash and Will star-crossed? “When it has to happen it will happen. There’s something very charismatic about that actor. He gives off very nice vibes. He’s very adventurous as an actor. He did I Am Legend and Pursuit Of Happiness at the same time. He’s an actor, rapper, and a great family man. I like that.”
